At the office of Dr. Andy Chang, your comfort and peace of mind are our primary concern. We strive to make all of our patients as comfortable as possible – both mentally and physically.
We are committed to helping all patients calm their fears. We understand that visits to the dentist office may cause some patients to experience fear or anxiety. For some, the fear is minor, but for others, it may be overwhelming enough to deter a patient from seeking treatment, even when the treatment is crucial to dental health.
We will gladly take the time to talk to you before your first treatment so that we can decide together what is best for you. If you would like a first appointment to simply talk about your anxieties and fears with no dental exam, please let us know.
Our dental chairs are equipped with relaxing heated, vibrating massage units that soothe back muscles with gentle pulses during your procedure. We also have DVD players in some of our exam rooms so that you can watch your favorite DVD during longer treatments. We have a wide selection of DVDs available, or you can bring your own. Be sure to request DVD access prior to your next long appointment.
Combined with the massage unit, patients of our can take advantage of the safe, professionally administered Nitrous Oxide Inhalation Sedation Therapy (Laughing Gas) for additional relaxation.
Sleep dentistry using oral sedation may help you
During "sleep dentistry," orally administered medications provide safe, economical and convenient sedation. Medication can deliver a deeper relaxation state than nitrous and additionally provide some amnesic effects. If you suffer just from the mere thought of heading to the dentist, this may be the choice for you.
After an initial in-office consultation to evaluate your situation, we will take baseline vital signs and write a prescription for Halcio (Triazolam). The medication is taken about 30 minutes to an hour before your dental appointment, so you will be relaxed before the appointment begins. Although awake, you will feel relaxed and drowsy. During your treatment, we monitor your pulse, oxygen saturation rate and blood pressure and stay with you continuously for the entire duration of your appointment. The same medication can also be prescribed to you for the night prior to your appointment to help you sleep.
Don't let anxiety prevent you from having the confident smile or healthy mouth you have always wanted. Call us today for more information on how our comfort services can help you
